Candidate Criteria
Please ensure each participant has his/her own saw to work on for the course.They will also need a flat file holder and correct size file (3/16” or 7/32”).
Some of the basic saw spanners etc. will be required.
This is primarily a practical course so have suitable clothing i.e. overalls etc.
Other facilities required:
A number of vices and a suitable work- bench for working.
For the theory a room with a clear white wall and seating to show some safety slides.

Safe operation procedures of chainsaws.
Practical session on chainsaw maintenance and operations
Cleaning saw
Checking safety features
Replacing chain
Maintenance to chain bar.
Fuelling saw, mixing fuels, selection of oils.
Replacing parts
Sharpening chain
Tightening and setting the chain
Using PPE (Required standard and specification)
Use of the saw and various types of cuts
Care of the saw in transport
