FRS Training has officially launched the 2026 edition of its major free farm safety initiative available for 300 Irish farm workers and families.
After the success of the Farm Family CPD (Continuous Professional Development) initiative in 2025, the programme has received funding from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to issue free training again this year. The application process is now open, and people can register their interest in joining the course on the FarmFamilyCPD website.
The programme provides free, interactive safety courses for all generations of farming families, including principals, children (12-16), employees, and those over 65. The training is available free of charge up to the 30th October 2026.
The online programme is led by FRS Training, in partnership with the Health & Safety Authority, IFA, FBD, Teagasc, and Irish farm families. The initiative includes five free online courses designed to change attitudes and behaviours around farm safety. These courses are suitable for all generations, from younger family members to those over 65, and aim to address risks like: Tractor and machinery safety; Chainsaw and quad bike operations; Livestock handling; Slurry safety; and General farm wellbeing.

“Keeping up to date requires training over time. Continuous Professional Development (CPD) gives all people over 12 years of age, who live or work on a farm in Ireland, the opportunity to do this. Whether you’re 18 or 80, let’s work together to reduce risks, save lives, and build a culture of safety across Irish farms.”
